A close view of the port side amidships of the Indian kotia type dhow Karimi (fl.1938) anchored at Colombo, Ceylon. The photographer is abreast the waist looking to starboard showing members of the crew by the ship's side with a small boat alongside. A tarpaulin and rope fenders are draped over the side while working cargo. Her bow and stern and the tops of her masts are out of the picture. Other kotia type craft are in the background. The photographer was taking passage in the heavy cruiser Cumberland (1926) from Singapore to the U.K. at the time.
