On board a five masted Ta-Pu-To trader type junk while under sail off Weihaiwei. The photographer is on the waist looking aft and to port showing the base of the mainmast, the mainmast prop, the ship's boat and the front of the accommodation shelter. The main halyard block is in the left foreground and two crew members are by the accommodation shelter. The photographer's ship was at Weihaiwei in the periods 3 June to 21 July 1937, 14 to 17 August 1937, 6 September to 7 October 1937, 8 June to 12 August 1938 and 20 August to 4 September 1938. Negatives numbers P34355 to P34362 inclusive are on board the same vessel.
