A stern view of the Foochow pole junk (trader) 4573 anchored with other junks at Shanghai
A stern view, taken from very fine off the starboard quarter, of the Foochow pole junk (trader) 4573 anchored with other junks at Shanghai. She is a three masted vessel and has logs in the water lashed alongside her. Her boat is lashed against her starboard bulwark aft. Her rudder is raised and her port number is painted in the centre of her highly decorated transom. The tops of her main and mizzen masts are out of the picture. The photographer's ship, the aircraft carrier Eagle (1918) was on the China Station from 6 May 1937 to 12 September 1938. A vertical format negative. Negative number P34440 is a very similar image.
