A starboard broadside view of the Lorcha type junk 1438 moored at Shanghai. Her mainsail is stowed and covered but her foresail and mizzen sail have been unshipped. She has a boat suspended from beams over the stern and her accommodation ladder is stowed on the starboard quarter. her port number is painted twice on her hull and she has two anchors at the starboard bow. A lighter is alongside amidships. The photographer's ship was in Northern Chinese waters in the periods 3 June to 10 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938. Negatives numbers P34449 and P34451 are also of this vessel.
