A slightly distant port side view, taken from abaft the beam, of a model of a fully rigged and equipped 'duck' type sampan on a wooden cradle in the grounds of the Roman Catholic church at Lio Kung Tao, near Weihaiwei. The model was commissioned by Lieutenant David Waters RN and made by Tung Ya and his assistants. The photographer's ship was at Weihaiwei in the periods 3 June to 21 July 1937, 14 to 17 August 1937, 6 September to 7 October 1937, 8 June to 12 August 1938 and 20 August to 4 September 1938.
