A slightly distant bow view of a sampan being sculled in a flat calm at Weihaiwei. She has a number of passengers on board. A light sea mist has hidden the background. The photographer's ship was at Weihaiwei in the periods 3 June to 21 July 1937, 14 to 17 August 1937, 6 September to 7 October 1937, 8 June to 12 August 1938 and 20 August to 4 September 1938.
