The forward part of the model of the Antung trader type junk 953 on a bench at Liu Kung Tao near Weihaiwei

A close port near broadside view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the forepart of a fully rigged model of the Antung trader type junk number 953. The model has a foremast, a mainmast and two mizzen masts sited to port and starboard at the stern but everything aft of the mainmast is out of the picture. The end of the bowsprit and the tops of the fore and mainmasts are also out of the picture. A lug sail is set on each mast as well as a flying jib, a staysail between the fore and main masts and a sail on an outrigger boom attached to the foremast. The model, which is displayed on a wooden stand on a bench, was commissioned by D W Waters and made by Tung Ya and his assistants at the back of the Roman Catholic Church in Liu Kung Tao, near Weihaiwei. It is now part of the NMM collection with the reference AAE0201. Negatives numbers P34513 to P34515 and P34518 are of the model of Antung trader 953.
