On board the Foochow pole junk (trader) 3179 anchored at Weihaiwei. The photographer is on the starboard side of the waist close to the foredeck looking forward and to port into the forecastle deck house showing a hand operated bilge pump in the foreground. A man is sitting in the crew accommodation. The photographer was in the area in the periods 3 June to 7 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938. Negatives numbers P34519 to P34540 are all of this vessel taken on the same occasion.
