On board the Foochow pole junk (trader) 3179 anchored at Weihaiwei. The photographer is on the centreline of the waist abaft the mainmast looking to port and slightly forward showing the access in the bulwark with the top strake plank removed. The heavy bollard to take the mainmast shroud is alongside the bulwark access. The photographer was in the area in the periods 3 June to 7 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938. Negatives numbers P34519 to P34540 are all of this vessel taken on the same occasion.
