On board the Foochow pole junk (trader) 3179 anchored at Weihaiwei. The photographer is on the centreline of the waist abaft the mainmast looking aft the open sliding doors to the chart house in the foreground. A capstan is on the chart house roof. The door to the poop accommodation is open. The mainsail is stowed fore and aft and the mizzen mast can be seen in the background. The photographer was in the area in the periods 3 June to 7 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938. Negatives numbers P34519 to P34540 are all of this vessel taken on the same occasion.
