The model, which is displayed on a wooden stand on a table, was commissioned by D W Waters and made by Tung Ya and his assistants at the back of the Roman Catholic Church in Liu Kung Tao, near Weihaiwei. The photographer is looking down on the model from above deck level just ahead of the beam. Negatives numbers P34571 to P34578 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
