An overhead view of a model of an Aberdeen line fishing sampan
An overhead view of a model of an Aberdeen line fishing sampan. The model, which is displayed on a table, was commissioned by D W Waters and made by Tung Ya and his assistants at the back of the Roman Catholic Church in Liu Kung Tao, near Weihaiwei. The photographer is looking almost vertically down on the model showing the midship and aft wooden covers removed and laid next to the model with two oars. Note the holes in the hull amidships to permit seawater into the fish hold. Negatives numbers P34579 and P34580 inclusive were taken on the same occasion. This model was presented to the NMM by D W Waters and is catalogued under the reference AAE0105.
