Captain Fitzjames' cabin on board HMS Erebus (1826)
A view of the Captain James Fitzjames' cabin on the lower deck of the exploration ship HMS Erebus (1826) after her refit for the expedition to search for the North West Passage. The cabin shows the built-in bed complete with quilt and cap on it. Next to the bed is a table with a portable lamp and paperwork. Beside the bed is locker space full of books, while on the opposite wall is a gimbled oil lamp.
