Tinned chocolate

A black chocolate tin with a hinged lid, printed in gold : ‘THE GIFT OF THE COLONIES OF TRINIDAD GRENADA & ST LUCIA TO HIS MAJESTY’S NAVAL & MILITARY FORCES’. ‘THIS CHOCOLATE IS MADE FROM COCOA GROWN IN TRINIDAD GRANADA & ST LUCIA’. The tin shows the badges of the three colonies with their mottos beneath ‘ST LUCIA - STATIO HAUD MALIFIDA CARINIS’ (a safe harbour for ships), ‘GRENADA - CLARIOR E TENEBRIS’ (lighter from darkness), ‘TRINIDAD - MISCERIQUE PROBAT POPULOS ET FOEDERA JUNGI’ (he approves of the mingling of the peoples and their bonds of union).
