Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides royal blue. The white lid is painted with two ships, one on fire within the inscription 'Nelson Proposed God conducted the Plan', 'to Vanquish our foe but the Victor was slain'. The lid has a blue and gilt border with white dots.
