Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). and the battle of the Nile, 1798. The surface is enamelled, the base and sides white with blue leaf stripe decoration in blue and red flowers. The lid is polychrome with a border of blue and white triangles with white dots and gilding. It is painted with a naval action and the inscription: 'The Glorious Victory by Adm. Nelson', '1st Aug 1798'.
