Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides in pink, the lid polychrome within a pink and gold border with white spots. It is painted with a female figure mourning at a monument to Nelson. This is surmounted by an anchor and sword and stands beneath a willow tree; a ship is seen at sea in the background. The memorial is inscribed: 'Sacred to the Memory of Ld Nelson'.
