Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides violet, the lid with a tinted polychrome transfer depicting Victory standing on the prow of a warship holding a palm branch in one hand and a medallion of Nelson in the other, the whole within a laurel wreath. The transfer is inscribed: 'VICTORIA', 'ABOUKIR . COPENHAGEN . CADIZ'.
