Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating naval heroes of the French Revolutionary War. The surface is enamelled, the base and sides green, the lid with a tinted transfer depicting Fame looking out towards the sea with vessels off the coast. A banner suspended from her trumpet is inscribed with the names 'Duncan Jervis Abercromby Nelson Howe'. Behind her Peace, looking landwards, holds out a wreath, with a cornucopia below. Inscribed above the figures: 'Fame Proclaiming her Heroes Peace with Plenty'.
