Patch box

Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and gadrooned sides pink. The lid with a tinted transfer showing a memorial, surmounted by a bust, with willow trees either side and the inscription: 'May the spirit of Nelson each Briton inspire'.
