Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides royal blue, the lid painted with Nelson falling wounded on the deck of 'Victory' supported by an officer, a line of eight ships in the background. The lid has an outer blue border with white spots and the inscription: 'Off Trafalgar the battle was Fought', 'Nelsons Life the Victory Bought' on a white inner border with gilt edges.
