Patch box

Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides royal blue, painted in colour on the lid a wreath tied with a black ribbon with two trumpets surrounding the inscription: 'Thus the brave Nelson he died/With VICTORY satisfied'. On the wreath ribbon in gold: 'Sacred to Nelson'.
