Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides pale blue. The white lid is painted in colour with a picture of a seaman, standing by the shore, shipping in the background. He holds a glass in one hand and a bottle in the other, inscribed above is the toast 'NELSON and the British crew forever'.
