Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base white and the sides pale blue. The white lid is painted with a sailor standing on the shore, shipping in the distance. He holds a stick in his left hand and with his right raises a glass in a toast: 'Nelson & the Navy' (inscribed above).
