Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled - the base and sides in pale blue. The lid has a painted picture of a cannon draped with a flag and a scroll inscribed: 'NELSON Doth Reign / CHIEF of The MAIN'. Behind the gun are trumpets and ship's rigging.
