Patch box
Oval enamelled patch box with a mirror inside the lid. It commemorates Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The base and sides are pink. The lid is white with a leaf and spot, red, green and gold border. It has a transfer polychrome picture of Britannia, seated by the shore, a lion at her feet, holding a scroll inscribed: 'Nelson.' There is a ship in the left background, and an eye with a nimbus above. Inscribed above: 'Britannia rules the waves.'
