Patch box
Oval enamelled patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The base is white, the sides royal blue, the lid in polychrome with a blue, gilt and white border decorated wih white dots. The lid is painted with Hope leaning against an anchor and Fame blowing a trumpet. Inscribed on the white border: 'Hope stands beholding their Actions most Glorious. Fame with her Trumpet sounds NELSON Victorious.'
