Tobacco box
Lozenge-shaped tobacco box. The sides are copper, the base and lid brass. The hinged lid is engraved with a ship, the base is engraved with a naval battle, one vessel captioned: 'Venerable 74'. Inscribed on the lid: 'Edwd Smith Filby 1798' and one the base 'ADM DUNCAN'S VICTORY 11.Oct. 1797 Dutch fleet defeated.' This refers to the Battle of Camperdown.
