Vinaigrette

Silver vinaigrette commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The lid is engraved with a portrait of Nelson after Lemuel Francis Abbott and has a scored, threaded surface. Inscribed around the portrait is: 'ENGLAND . EXPECTS . EVERY . MAN . WILL . DO . HIS . DUTY.' The gilded interior has a die-stamped grill with a representation of HMS 'Victory' inscribed: 'VICTORY', 'TRAFR OCTR 21 1805'. There is a short, scrolling thumbpiece to open the box.
