Tobacco box

Tobacco box commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). A round box, made of embossed sheet brass. On the lid, a profile portrait of Nelson facing left, inscribed: 'ADMIRAL LORD NELSON BORN 29TH SEPTR 1758'. The edge of the lid and sides of the box are decorated with a key pattern. On the base, within a border of rope twist and key pattern and surrounded by oak branches - the inscription: 'CONQUEROR AT ABOUKIR 1 AUGT 1798 COPENHAGEN 2 APRIL 1801 TRAFALGAR 21 OCTR 1805 WHERE HE GLORIOUSLY FELL.' The maker's initials: 'M & P FECIT' are inscribed on the base.
