Photograph of a silhouette picture depicting 'Captain O.V. von Essen (1761-1834) First commander of the frigate 'Avtroil' in 1790' [inscribed on metal plate in Russian]. In ink on the reverse: 'This picture was taken from the Russian destroyer Avtroil which was captured of Reval in Decr. 1918. It was hung up in the ward room, probably one of the pictures that belonged to the ship when she flew the Imperial flag of Russia. A.T.'
