Miniature painting
Miniature painting depicting Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The image painted in watercolour on ivory, the sitter shown in uniform, without a hat, looking to the left. The frame is carved with a figure with a trumpet, representing Fame with naval trophies and strapwork. It is inscribed: 'NELSON', 'VICTORY OF TRAFALGAR 1805'. The whole is set in a velvet lined, glazed wooden case.
