Female sailor doll

A doll won in a raffle by Mrs W. Dyer on board the P & O liner 'Stratheden' on her passage to India, during Christmas 1938. A female sailor doll, with a stuffed body and papier mâché face, holding in one arm a small male sailor doll of identical composition. The female doll is wearing a blue and cream sailor suit with three white stripes on the collar and cuffs. She has a blue felt skirt, navy tie and white cap with grey ribbon inscribed: 'STRATHEDEN'. She has blue and white shoes, blue bows and white socks. Her hair is made of yellow wool in two plaits with mauve ribbons. The male doll has a similar uniform in felt, and also has a cap with 'STRATHEDEN' on the ribbon.
