Snuff box

Snuff box carved from a coquilla nut with a hinged lid and brass mounts.The lid is carved with a scene showing seamen clinging to the guns at the stern of a sinking vessel. On the base is a foul anchor flanked with naval trophies. The sides of the box are decorated with swags of flowers in high relief and the ends have acanthus leaf carving with a border of beading and rope twist.
