Submarine cable section

Submarine cable. Cylindrical with metal bands at either end. The core consists of seven copper wires covered with four layers of gutta percha alternating with four of Chatterton's compound. The outer sheathing consists of eighteen strands each containing seven iron wires - 22 gauge.
