Portrait plaque
Wax portrait plaque depicting Captain Richard Gwyn R.N. (d.1766). Polychrome, half-length figure facing left, seated at a writing table holding a telescope. He is wearing the first uniform undress coat. It is mounted in a glazed, gilt wood frame. Handwritten in ink on the back of the frame: 'My grandfather Capt. Gwyn of Gower, C. Glamorgan.'
