Portrait plaque
Portrait plaque depicting Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). A carved jet plaque, in the centre, Nelson (after de Vaere) is shown half-length in uniform, hatless facing left in profile. A border of oak leaves and acorns is carved in high relief with a foul anchor at the bottom. The suspension ring is decorated with oak leaves, acorns, an anchor and the British lion. There is also a black-painted steel support behind.
