Portrait plaque

Portrait plaque depicting Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). A wax plaque showing Nelson in uniform, facing towards the left and viewed in profile. It is similar to the Andras design but the base is cut short at an angle and moulding is very indistinct. It is made of orange-pink wax mounted on a red plush background under glass. The whole in an ornate gilt frame with an oak leaf and laurel design, surmounted by a coronet.
