Portrait plaque

Portrait plaque depicting Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). A white wax plaque showing Nelson after the Wedgwood plaque modelled by de Vaere in 1798. He is shown in profile facing to the right, wearing uniform and the star and sash of a Knight of the Bath. After moulding the wax has been worked with pin pricks and scratched decoration. The plaque is mounted on dark blue blue velvet, in a oval wood frame.
