Silver beaker commemmorating HMS 'Horatio'
Silver beaker to the Purser of HMS 'Horatio', 1812.
Beaker with gilt interior, with applied bands of decoration at the rim and foot, depicting a fruiting vine at the top.
It is inscribed: 'A Testimony of Esteem from the Petty Officers of H.M. Ship HORATIO to J. Warden Esqr Purser of the above Ship, 1812'.
HMS 'Horatio' was a 5th rate of 38 guns, built by Parsons of Bursledon, Hampshire, in 1807. She was converted to screw in 1849, and finally sold in 1865 for breaking up at Castle's, Charlton. In 1812, her captain was Lord George Stuart.
