Oval silver gilt arm-badge

Oval silver-gilt arm badge from a prize coat won at Greenwich Regatta 1934.

The high-domed badge is embossed with a fouled anchor superimposed on crossed oars with '1821' in relief on the crown of the anchor, and 'SHS' in relief. The border of the badge depicts a bound laurel wreath with 'ROYAL HOSPITAL SOCIETY' at the top and 'GREENWICH REGATTA 1934' below. Above the anchor is engraved: 'FIFTH DREADNOUGHT COAT AND BADGE' and inscribed on a scroll below is: 'WON BY A E GOBBETT'.

Fastened to the back at the top and bottom are two eyelets for attaching the badge to Gobbett's prize coat (UNI1138).
