Thames Sailing Barge Match Cup

A silver cup for the Thames Sailing Barge Match, awarded in 1938. Inscribed on the front are the words 'THAMES SAILING BARGE MATCH/21 JUNE 1938/THIRD PRIZE/STAYSAIL CLASS/Presented by/THE TRUSTEES OF/THE THAMES SAILING BARGE/MATCH FUND'. Inscribed on the back are the words 'SUCCESSORS TO THOMAS FRANCIS WOOD (GRAVESEND) LIMITED/H. LIVERMOOR/A. COLLIER/E. TREE/A. LIVERMORE/s.b. "ARDEER". Hallmarked. The cup is heavily tarnished on the inside and outside. The makers names "MAPPIN & WEBB" are engraved on the base of the cup.
