Oval platter: P&O
An electroplated serving dish. The P&O rising sun crest and scroll, which has the words "ORIENTAL STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY LTD" can be seen on the rim of the dish. A aluminium plaque is fixed on the rim with two brass pins. The plaque reads "S/S ORFORD SUNK BY BOMBING IN MARSEILLES HARBOUR 1ST JUNE 1940". The maker's mark is engraved on the base of the dish. It is scratched and dented around the rim.
