Serving dish:Union Castle Line

A rectangular silver plated tray / serving dish that was used on the Union Castle Line shipping company. The sides are are engraved with a zigzag pattenr on the outside edge. There is a handle either side of the tray with the company crest on either side. It was part of the first class place setting on ships. Inscribed on the base are the words "MAPPIN & WEBB LTD, MAPPIN PLATE, LONDON & SHEFFIELD, C1/89, WARRANTED HARD SOLDER". The dish is well used and scratched.
