Cruet stand: Union Castle Line
A silver plate cruet stand which formed part of the first class setting on Union Castle Line ships. it consists of two waisted oval shapes, one acting as the base of the stand with the other cut out to hold salt and pepper pots. There is a central carrying handle that has a zigzag pattern engraved on it. The Union Castle Line crest is on the base plate. Inscribed on the underside of the base are the words "MAPPUIN & WEBB, LONDON & SHEFFIELD, MAPPIN PLATE, J, CI/90, B". The salt and pepper pots are missing.
