Conserve pot: Union Castle Line

A plain conserve pot that was used as part of the first class setting on Union Castle Line ships. it consists of a plain pot with a plastic liner. There are tab handles on both sides and a hinged lid cut out for the spoon. There is a hole in the base to enable speed release of the liner. The Union Castle Line crest is engraved on the side. Inscribed on the side are the words "UNION CASTLE LINE". On the base are the words "MAPPIN & WEBB, LONDON & SHEFFIELD, MAPPIN PLATE, G, CI/75". The pot is used but the liner is new.
