Toast rack: Union Castle Line

A silver plate toast rack that formed part of the first class setting on Union Castle Line ships. The rack can hold four pieces of toast and has a zigzag design engraved on its handle. The company crest is almost obliterated on one side. Inscribed on the underside of the rack are the words "MAPPIN & WEBB LTD, MAPPIN PLATE, LONDON & SHEFFIELD, B, CI/81".
