Union Castle Line: butter dish
A butter dish that formed part of the first class table setting on Union Castle Line ships. The dish has two handles, one on either side, and a seperate pierced tray inside the tray. The rim is engraved with a zig zag pattern. The Union Castle Line crest is stamped on the side of the dish. The maker's marks are engraved on the base of the dish. The dish is marked PLT0662.1 and the pierced liner is marked PLT0662.2.
