Writing box
Writing box in polished ash, with engraved and pierced brass fittings on the lid and around the lock which retains its key. A blue velvet covered compartment inside the lid folds down to become a writing surface. The box has four fitted compartments in the base and on a tray conatined two glass ink pots with silver lids. 'E.H. 1801' is written on an ivory plate on the lid. The box was believed to have belonged to Emma Hamilton, however, although it is not associated with the provenance of the usual fakes, the inscription could still be suspect.
