Nelson's First letter written in the left hand
(Believed to be) Nelson's first letter written in the left hand. Writing to St Vincent following the loss of his right arm in the failed attack on Teneriffe, Nelson bemoans his injury and asks for a frigate to take him back to England, 'I am become a burden to my friends and useless to my Country', 27 July 1797.
